Harry thinks our service members represent the highest ideals of duty, sacrifice, and commitment. Growing up in a military family and being born on Andrews Air Force Base, Harry understands firsthand the values that define those who serve, as well as the responsibilities we owe them in return. He stands firmly with the service members, veterans, and military families of Maryland’s 5th District, from Joint Base Andrews to Naval Air Station Patuxent River. Harry knows that our nation still falls short in supporting veterans once their service ends, and honoring that commitment will be one of his top priorities. He is fully committed to ensuring our military remains strong, well‑resourced, and prepared to protect our country and democracy. In Congress, Harry will:
- Advance suicide prevention and mental health resources to stop the tragic loss of life among our heroes.
- Fully fund the Veterans Affairs Department and protect it and Veterans’ healthcare from privatization.
- Protect the Toxic Exposure Fund created by the PACT Act so that all toxic-exposed veterans are able to receive care for health issues they incurred while serving.
- Work across the aisle to provide job opportunities and address the homeless crisis for our veterans.
